The BIZ operates nearly identically to every box that we coach. Clients can excel while investing “sweat equity” and eventually add value to become part of the team.

Today is the second of three such posts.

The first thing I remember about Meghan is actually three things…

First, she was incredibly pregnant when I met her. She sat up front during the same seminar that Chris Thorndike was at (good graduating class – huh?) and I was worried I may be delivering a baby at some point (didn’t happen though).

The next thing I remember is that Mego (what her peeps call her) had an energy about her that was noticeable.

Finally, she was one of the few women who could go toe-to-toe with other men at the seminar in having “passionate discourse” over a topic. She had natural confidence.

Now, that last note about her confidence also proved to be the bane of my existence for a while.

See, strong willed people are hard to coach.

And because of this… CF JAX languished in the Nether regions… the place between TOO BIG TO CLOSE UP and TOO SMALL TO REALLY BE A SUCCESS. Some of you who read this now reside in that same zip code she was in.

But how can Mego be an SME if she languished in the Nether world, you ask?

Well, I gave her time to come around, to find the solution in our material for herself. Listen, it’s the same as you doing Paleo and then FORCING all of your clients from day 1 to do it. Sure, you’ll have people do it, but some of them will be sacrificing the LEARNING process of them growing towards it themselves.  It’s the whole “lead a horse to water…” situation.

So I lead.

And, over the course of 18 months Mego slowly implemented The BIZ systems. Not at the pace I would have suggested, but CF JAX isn’t MY business. Owners have to naturally grow in the direction they need.

My approach is…when the box owners are ready, the solutions will be available to them.

A little mantra I have repeated since the early days of transitioning CFLA is, “you can’t learn it for them.” Take that approach with your clients as well as your staff and overall business. You’ll be much happier.

So, where is Mego and the CF JAX team now?

They were Most Improved Business of the Year in 2010.

Their new box is an AWESOME 5,000 sq ft.

They’re on track to do $300K this year.

If you want to have someone who KNOWS how to make it happen on your side, get her involved with your business.

But be warned. Her confidence will ride your ass if you need it.

So, Mego is now a contributor to The BIZ: Raise Your Game site. In addition, she’s available to be hired as a Coach. We’ll make her SME page available shortly.

So, if you’d like to learn from someone who not only pulled herself out of the Nether region, but went on to become “Most Improved Business of 2010,” be sure to reach out to her.

Some behind-the-scenes info:

Mego’s husband Chris is a part of the CrossFit HQ certification staff. When he’s not traveling 3 out of 4 weekends of the month he actually lives in ANOTHER STATE due to his job. They have a very photogenic 3-year old daughter Sophia and an active son named Kai who also puts demands on Mego’s bandwidth….and yet, she still manages to run a really successful affiliate!
