The end of 2012 is sneaking up on us FAST.

A lot of clients are going to pour into your gym this January with misguided fitness goals for the new year. Start shifting your mindset about goal-setting NOW so you can demonstrate, right off the bat, how your box approaches business, fitness and life differently.

(And so you won’t be just another blowhard in 2013.)

Try this new approach to leveraging yourself for getting the results you want:

Instead of setting a traditional goal by focusing on the outcome you want to achieve at the end of your efforts, use the principle of “micro-looping” to achieve dramatic and lasting success.

Micro-looping can help you can learn anything from ballroom dancing to finding a shortcut to work. The idea is: every day you take something only so far, and then the next day you make a slight change. Looking back, you can see the difference and evaluate how that slight adjustment worked or didn’t work.

Answering these 5 questions and then taking each Action Step will guide you through this process.

THE 5 STEP ACTION LIST

1. What can you decide NOW that you will DO tomorrow?

ACTION STEP 1: Plan slightly ahead, with an eye towards something bigger, and make it “chunkable” so you can manage it. For example, 5 push ups and 10 lunges out of bed (part of the bigger idea of getting in shape) when you wake tomorrow.

2.Which mini-victory did you accomplish today?

ACTION STEP 2: Looking back on your day, recognize the good stuff you’ve done… Example: 5 push ups and 5 lunges (not the 10 desired but it’s ok) and had no bread at lunch.

3. Did you “sandbag” your efforts to look good or set the bar too high and set yourself up for failure from the start?

ACTION STEP 3: Knowing that you’re not too easy on yourself nor too hard will help. While this isn’t scientific, it is good to be aware of when you’re working in the “red zone” or totally coasting.Example: Deciding to do 5 push ups and 10 lunges when you know you could do 50 of each unbroken (too easy)… OR setting the action at 50 of each when you’ve never done any (too hard).

4. What’s the next mini-victory you will take action on?

ACTION STEP 4: So the day is over, now it’s time to plan your next small accomplishment. Remember this: The seeds of greatness happen in our daily choices. (How do you eat an elephant? Obviously, one bite at a time.)

5. How much “skin” do you have in the game?

ACTION STEP 5: Set yourself apart from all the wannabees… bet on yourself. The bet here can be anything of value; however, you must absolutely not want to give it up.Example: If you could care less about parting with $20, then bet $100 (or whatever number you choose that would hurt to part with, within reason). Or make the task be so outlandish (wash someone’s car in a bikini – and you’re a man!) that it would still sting. NOTE: this only works if you’re honest, otherwise there is no point.

Here’s a secret: I play this “game” for as little as a $1, and for me it’s just as effective as playing for $1,000 because I HATE losing. This tool WORKS, as any of our Subject Matter Experts at the BIZ can tell you.And it’s just one of many BIZ tools these three SME Superstar Affiliate Owners are proving out every day with their increasingly successful boxes.
